Notably, the track "Running Wild in the Streets" had its roots in Spencer Proffer's creative genius, having been previously demoed by Spectre General, also known as Kick Axe, and Black Sabbath with Ron Keel before finding its rightful place within this album's lineup. Meanwhile, "Sex Drive" finds its origins in the musical legacy of Blackie Lawless and Randy Piper's earlier band, Sister. "Cries in the Night" is a captivating adaptation of a song titled "Mr. Cool," originally released on a 1976 single by the Killer Kane Band, a group in which Blackie Lawless was a member at the time.

"The Last Command" also marks a turning point in W.A.S.P.'s history. It's the inaugural album to showcase the drumming prowess of Steve Riley while simultaneously serving as the farewell performance of founding member Randy Piper on guitar. This transition fueled the band's artistic evolution.

On the charts, "The Last Command" proudly achieved a No. 49 ranking on the esteemed Billboard 200 album chart during the early months of 1986, a milestone underscored by the sale of over one million copies—an extraordinary achievement that marked W.A.S.P.'s first foray into the million-sold territory.
