Control Denied Fragile Art of Existence 2 CD Reissue (Jewel Case, 2010, Relapse)

Control Denied The Fragile Art Of Existence 2 CD Reissue is the definitive expanded edition of the only studio album from Control Denied, the progressive heavy metal project founded and led by legendary Death guitarist, songwriter and mastermind Chuck Schuldiner. Originally released in 1999 through Nuclear Blast, The Fragile Art Of Existence represented a significant new chapter in Schuldiner's musical development, moving beyond the extreme-metal framework of Death into a more traditional, progressive and power-metal-influenced sound.

Built around Schuldiner's highly distinctive guitar work and progressive songwriting, The Fragile Art Of Existence combines intricate heavy metal arrangements, melodic guitar harmonies, expressive lead work and dynamic rhythmic structures with the powerful clean vocals of Tim Aymar. The lineup also features Shannon Hamm on guitars, Steve Di Giorgio on bass and Richard Christy on drums, bringing together musicians associated with some of the most respected progressive and technical metal of the era.

Rather than simply continuing the musical direction of Death, Control Denied allowed Schuldiner to explore a different side of his songwriting. The album retains the precision, complexity and progressive instincts heard in late-period Death while incorporating stronger traditional heavy metal and power metal influences, creating a distinctive sound that bridges progressive metal, technical musicianship and classic heavy metal.

The original album features tracks including Consumed, Breaking The Broken, Expect The Unexpected, What If...?, When The Link Becomes Missing, Believe, Cut Down and The Fragile Art Of Existence. Chuck Schuldiner wrote all of the songs, with the album showcasing his increasingly sophisticated approach to melody, arrangement and guitar composition.

This 2010 Relapse Records 2CD reissue has been remastered and repackaged, expanding the original album with more than an hour of previously unreleased material, including additional tracks and early demo recordings. The second disc provides collectors and longtime fans with a deeper look into the development of Control Denied and Chuck Schuldiner's creative work surrounding The Fragile Art Of Existence.

For collectors of Chuck Schuldiner, Death, Control Denied and progressive heavy metal, this expanded 2 CD edition offers considerably more than the original album alone. It documents one of Schuldiner's final major creative projects and provides valuable insight into the musical ideas, performances and early recordings behind Control Denied's sole studio album.

The Fragile Art Of Existence is particularly recommeded for listeners who appreciate progressive and technical metal combined with traditional heavy metal songwriting, intricate guitar work, melodic vocals and highly skilled musicianship.
