Delain Apocalypse & Chill CD (Digipak, 2020, Napalm Records)

Apocalypse & Chill is the sixth studio album from Dutch symphonic metal band Delain, released by Napalm Records on February 7, 2020. The album combines powerful guitar riffs, orchestral arrangements, synth-heavy soundscapes and Charlotte Wessels' distinctive vocals to create a polished and dramatic symphonic metal sound. Exploring themes of impending doom, human indifference and an uncertain future, the album takes Delain's established style in a darker and more modern direction. Tracks such as One Second, Chemical Redemption, Burning Bridges and Masters Of Destiny showcase the band's balance of melody, heaviness and cinematic atmosphere.

The album moves between driving metal instrumentation, electronic textures and expansive orchestral passages, giving each track a strong sense of contrast and atmosphere. Burning Bridges and Legions Of The Lost highlight the album's grand melodic approach, while Chemical Redemption brings heavier guitar-driven intensity. The Digipak CD edition contains the original album along with three bonus orchestral versions of Masters Of Destiny, Burning Bridges and Vengeance, making it an appealing physical edition for Delain collectors.

For fans of symphonic metal, gothic metal and melodic female-fronted metal, Apocalypse & Chill offers a modern combination of heavy guitars, orchestration, electronic elements and memorable vocal melodies. Its dystopian themes, polished production and varied arrangements make this album a strong addition to collections focused on Delain, Dutch metal and contemporary symphonic metal.
