Iron Maiden Somewhere In Time CD (Digipak, 2019, Parlophone)

Somewhere in Time is the sixth studio album by legendary British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, originally released in 1986. This 2019 Parlophone CD edition presents one of the band’s most distinctive and influential albums in Digipak packaging, making it an essential addition to any Iron Maiden CD collection.

Produced by Martin Birch, Somewhere in Time marked a significant evolution in Iron Maiden’s sound, incorporating guitar synthesiser textures into the band’s trademark heavy metal style. Recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, and Wisseloord Studios in the Netherlands, the album combines intricate twin-guitar arrangements, Steve Harris’s driving bass lines, Nicko McBrain’s powerful drumming and Bruce Dickinson’s commanding vocals with a futuristic atmosphere that distinguishes it from the band’s earlier releases.

The album features some of Iron Maiden’s most enduring songs, including “Wasted Years,” “Stranger in a Strange Land,” “Caught Somewhere in Time,” “Heaven Can Wait,” “Sea of Madness” and “Alexander the Great.” The singles “Wasted Years” and “Stranger in a Strange Land” helped establish the album’s lasting appeal, while its ambitious songwriting and distinctive production have made it a favourite among fans of classic and progressive-influenced heavy metal.

The iconic cover artwork, created by Derek Riggs, depicts Eddie within a futuristic cyberpunk cityscape filled with references to Iron Maiden’s history and lyrics. Its detailed visual design has become one of the most recognisable images in the band’s catalogue. Somewhere in Time achieved platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), reflecting sales of over one million copies in the United States.

For collectors and longtime fans, this remastered Digipak offers a physical edition of a landmark Iron Maiden album that expanded the band’s musical and visual identity during the 1980s. It is an essential title for anyone building a collection of Iron Maiden’s classic studio albums.

Recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Somewhere in Time, classic British heavy metal, progressive-influenced metal and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), as well as listeners of Judas Priest, Queensrÿche, Helloween, Saxon, Dio and Black Sabbath.
