Dark Asylum is the fourteenth full-length studio album from American progressive, melodic and symphonic power metal band Kamelot, continuing the band's distinctive combination of infectious melodies, cinematic storytelling, theatrical atmosphere and technically accomplished metal.

Released in 2026 through Napalm Records, Dark Asylum represents another ambitious chapter in the career of one of modern metal's most distinctive bands. The album transports listeners into the shadowed Victorian world of RavenHill Asylum, an imposing institution originally constructed as a grand cathedral before being transformed into a place where science, faith and madness collide. Through cold corridors, towering arches and candlelit chambers, Dark Asylum develops a dark conceptual narrative exploring identity, reality, psychological darkness, control and transformation.

Lea-Sophie Fischer of Eluveitie contributes violin to Beneath the Moon (Tunglið), accompanied by the ethereal voices of Rannveig Sif Sigurðardóttir and Sólveig Sara Leupold. Additional choral layers from Billy King further expand the album's orchestral and theatrical atmosphere, while Kiara Huber provides the evocative introduction to Dark Asylum.

Throughout the album, Kamelot balance their progressive and symphonic ambitions with the memorable hooks that have defined their most successful releases. Ashen World delivers cinematic scale and dramatic momentum, while Sanctuary explores a more introspective and emotionally charged side of the band's songwriting.

Ivy, My Dear adds another layer of mystery to the album's conceptual world, reinforcing the sense that Dark Asylum is intended to be experienced as a complete narrative rather than simply a collection of unrelated tracks.
