Psalmus Mortis is the debut album from the Swedish technical death metal band Retromorphosis.

After three decades of becoming one of the most innovative curiosities in the extreme metal kingdom, Spawn Of Possession were laid to rest in 2017. But as the laws of death metal dictate, you can't bury what's already undead. Like a particularly pungent spore, the seeds of SOP have been festering underground, waiting to come to life and haunt the earth in the form of an even more hideous mutation.

Such is the sordid origin story of RETROMORPHOSIS. After the demise of his first musical baby, guitarist Jonas Bryssling began writing new songs, incorporating more of his own maniacal sensibilities into Spawn Of Possession's influential DNA. As he hatched his formula, Bryssling reunited with SOP vocalist Dennis Röndum and bassist Erlend Caspersen, along with shredding Swiss army knife Christian Muenzner (ex-Obscura and Necrophagist), before adding former Decrepit Birth drummer KC Howard to the mix.
