Slipknot Self Titled CD (Jewel Case, 1999, Roadrunner)

Slipknot Self-Titled is the landmark debut studio album from American heavy metal band Slipknot, originally released on June 29, 1999, through Roadrunner Records. Combining aggressive heavy metal, nu metal, alternative metal and industrial-influenced elements, the album established Slipknot as one of the defining bands of the late-1990s heavy music scene.

Produced by Ross Robinson, Slipknot is recognised for its dense guitar riffs, relentless drumming, extensive percussion, turntables, sampling and Corey Taylor’s intense vocal delivery. The album’s nine-member lineup created a distinctive wall of sound, balancing raw aggression and rhythmic complexity with memorable hooks and an unmistakable atmosphere.

Essential tracks include Wait and Bleed, Spit It Out, Surfacing, Eyeless, Me Inside and Liberate. Wait and Bleed became one of the band’s best-known songs and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2001. Together, these tracks helped introduce Slipknot’s uncompromising sound and distinctive musical identity to a worldwide audience.

Initially reaching No. 51 on the US Billboard 200, the album continued to gain popularity and achieved double-platinum certification in the United States. It remains Slipknot’s best-selling studio album and a defining release in the development of nu metal, influencing subsequent generations of heavy music artists.

For fans discovering Slipknot’s early sound or collectors building a physical collection of essential late-1990s metal albums, this self-titled debut captures the raw intensity, percussion-driven arrangements and aggressive songwriting that launched the band’s international career.
