Suffocation Despise The Sun CD  (Jewel Case, 2012, Relapse Record)

Suffocation’s Despise The Sun is a ferocious classic of brutal and technical death metal, showcasing the New York band's uncompromising approach to extreme music. Originally released in 1998, this highly influential release delivers crushing guitar riffs, guttural vocals, relentless drumming, intricate rhythmic patterns, and devastating breakdowns that helped establish Suffocation as one of the defining forces in American death metal.

The album combines rapid blast beats and technical guitar work with heavy, groove-driven passages and punishing low-end. The 2012 CD edition is an excellent addition to collections focused on brutal death metal, technical death metal, New York death metal, and landmark extreme metal recordings. Its uncompromising sound and influential songwriting make it a must-have for listeners who appreciate some of the heaviest and most technically accomplished death metal of the late 1990s.
