Trivium In Waves CD (Jewel Case, 2011, Roadrunner)

Trivium In Waves CD is the fifth studio album from the American heavy metal band Trivium, released in August 2011 through Roadrunner Records. Following the technical ambition and progressive songwriting of Shogun, In Waves delivers a more direct, groove-focused sound combining metalcore aggression, thrash metal precision, melodic guitar work and powerful modern heavy metal production.

Produced by Colin Richardson, with Martin “Ginge” Ford and Carl Bown, In Waves showcases Trivium’s ability to balance crushing riffs, driving rhythms, melodic hooks and intense vocal performances. Matt Heafy’s vocals move between aggressive delivery and melodic passages, while the dual-guitar interplay and tightly controlled rhythm section give the album its distinctive combination of heaviness and accessibility.

The album opens with the atmospheric instrumental Capsizing the Sea before launching into the forceful title track, In Waves. Other highlights include Inception of the End, Dusk Dismantled, Watch the World Burn, Black, Built to Fall and Caustic Are the Ties That Bind. Together, these tracks demonstrate the album’s emphasis on memorable choruses, powerful rhythmic grooves, melodic leads and tightly structured songwriting.

Recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida, In Waves marked an important chapter in Trivium’s evolution, presenting a streamlined approach to their established blend of metalcore, thrash metal and traditional heavy metal influences. Its balance of aggression, melody and polished production makes it an accessible entry point for new listeners while retaining the technical musicianship that has defined the band’s catalogue.

Released during a major period of growth for modern American metal, In Waves debuted at No. 13 on the US Billboard 200 and further established Trivium as an internationally recognised force in contemporary heavy music. The album remains a significant release for fans following the band’s progression from the early intensity of Ascendancy through the more expansive songwriting of Shogun.

This CD edition in Jewel Case format is a strong addition for Trivium fans, modern metal collectors and listeners seeking a blend of melodic hooks, heavy riffs, precise musicianship and powerful production.
