Black to the Blind returns in this powerful 2025 remastered digipak reissue from Nuclear Blast, revisiting one of the most important and influential European death metal albums of the 1990s. Originally released in 1997, the third full-length studio album from legendary Polish death metal pioneers Vader captured the band at a defining point in their evolution - refining their trademark blend of relentless speed, razor-sharp riffing, and militaristic precision into one of the genre’s most iconic releases.

Widely regarded as a cornerstone of European death metal, Black to the Blind helped cement Vader’s international reputation during a period when the band was relentlessly touring and building a devoted worldwide underground following. By the late 1990s Vader had already established themselves as one of the most respected names in extreme metal, performing hundreds of concerts alongside genre titans including Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, and Immolation.

Recorded between July and August 1997 at Selani Studio in Olsztyn, Poland, the album was produced by Piotr “Peter” Wiwczarek and Andrzej Bomba, with mastering handled by Julita Emanuiłow. The release also marked the first Vader album to feature guitarist Maurycy “Mauser” Stefanowicz, whose aggressive and technically precise playing further strengthened the band’s devastating sonic attack.

Musically, Black to the Blind perfectly balances old-school death metal brutality with thrash-inspired precision and memorable songwriting. Vader’s trademark style - often described as a ferocious collision between Slayer and Morbid Angel pushed to extreme intensity - is fully realised here through machine-gun drumming, savage riff structures, blistering solos, and Peter’s commanding vocal performance.

Classic tracks such as “Carnal”, “Fractal Light”, “True Names”, and the devastating title track remain staples of Vader’s live set and are revered by death metal fans worldwide. The track “Carnal” also gained wider recognition after appearing in the 1998 Polish action film Gniew (Anger).

The album’s iconic visual identity is further enhanced by the original cover artwork from respected underground artist Jacek Wiśniewski, whose imagery became closely associated with late-90s death metal aesthetics.

This 2025 remastered digipak edition preserves the original spirit and artwork of the classic release while delivering enhanced sound quality and updated presentation for collectors and longtime fans.
