Fast Lane is the second full-length album from Vienna-based high-energy rock’n’roll force Vulvarine, and it finds the band hitting top speed with confidence, attitude, and razor-sharp hooks. Since forming in 2019, Vulvarine have carved out a fearless identity as powerful women in rock, breaking onto the international scene with their debut Unleashed (2020) and the Witches Brew EP (2023). With Fast Lane, they push their sound further while staying loud, raw, and unapologetically real.

Influenced by Girlschool, The Runaways, and The Donnas, Vulvarine define their style as “vulvarock” — a turbocharged fusion of rock’n’roll, heavy metal, glam, punk, and blues. The album bursts out of the gate with the explosive opener “The Drugs, the Love and the Pain,” setting the tone for an adrenaline-fuelled ride packed with rebellious energy and irresistible catchiness. Tracks like “Ancient Soul” reveal a more reflective side, while “Demons” explores darker, heavier territory.

Standout cuts such as “Alright Tonight” showcase the band’s powerhouse rhythm section, while “Equal, Not the Same” delivers a bold, empowering statement. “Polly the Trucker” is a modern road anthem steeped in classic rock spirit, and the electrifying cover of Modern Talking’s “Cheri Cheri Lady” adds a surprise twist, featuring a searing guest guitar solo from Filippa Nässil of Thundermother. The album closes on a more introspective note with “She’ll Come Around,” rounding out a dynamic and cohesive listening experience.

Produced in Vienna and Wiener Neustadt by Thomas Zwanzger (Stressstudio), Dietmar Baumgartner (Sonar Music Productions), and Engel Mayr (ex-Russkaja), Fast Lane delivers polished yet punchy production without sacrificing edge. The result is Vulvarine’s strongest and most focused release to date — an 11-track, no-filler blast of high-octane rock’n’roll.
