Gruesome – Dimensions Of Horror (Jewel Case, 2016, Relapse)

Gruesome Dimensions Of Horror CD is the 2016 EP from American old-school death metal band Gruesome, released through Relapse Records. Following the band's 2015 debut album Savage Land, this six-track release continues Gruesome's deliberate homage to the pioneering sound of Death, drawing particular inspiration from Chuck Schuldiner's landmark 1987 album Scream Bloody Gore.

Featuring musicians with connections to Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation and Derketa, Gruesome combines raw death metal aggression, primitive guitar riffs, savage vocals, pounding drums and grisly horror-inspired themes. Dimensions Of Horror captures the uncompromising character of early Florida death metal, recreating its ferocious energy while delivering tightly executed songwriting and a strong sense of authenticity.

Self-produced by the band and recorded with Jarrett Pritchard at New Constellation Studios in Orlando, Florida, the EP develops the old-school death metal approach established on Savage Land. Its six tracks deliver a concentrated burst of bone-crushing riffs, relentless rhythms and gruesome atmosphere, celebrating the formative years of extreme metal without losing the force and precision of a modern recording.

The release also features striking cover artwork by legendary metal illustrator Ed Repka, whose iconic work includes artwork for Death, Atheist and Massacre. His involvement reinforces the EP's connection to the classic era of death metal and makes Dimensions Of Horror particularly appealing to fans of the genre's original visual and musical identity.

For collectors of old-school death metal, this 2016 Relapse Records CD is an essential release in Gruesome's growing catalogue. Its direct tribute to Scream Bloody Gore, connection to the wider underground death metal scene and compact six-song format make it a strong choice for fans who appreciate the raw, horror-driven foundations of the genre.
