Mortal Throne of Nazarene is the devastating second full-length studio album from American death metal titans Incantation, originally released on October 25, 1994 via Relapse Records. Widely regarded as one of the most important underground death metal releases of the 1990s, this album solidified Incantation’s reputation as masters of apocalyptic, blasphemous, and doom-laden death metal.

Originally recorded in August 1993, the album was later entirely re-recorded in March 1994 after Relapse Records deemed the initial sessions insufficient. The resulting version is darker, heavier, and more oppressive, featuring crushing low-end riffs, cavernous production, relentless blast beats, and occult-themed lyrics that became defining traits of the Incantation sound. Guitarist and vocalist John McEntee leads the assault with a suffocating atmosphere that helped shape the direction of American death metal.

The original 1993 recording was later released in 1995 under the title Upon the Throne of Apocalypse, with a reversed track listing, making Mortal Throne of Nazarene the definitive and canonical version of this material.
