Kerrigan Bloodmoon CD (Slipcase, 2023, High Roller Records)

Bloodmoon is the debut full-length album from Kerrigan, one of the most promising newcomers from Germany’s New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM). Formed in Freiburg in 2019 by Bruno Schotten (guitars, bass) and Jonas Weber (vocals, guitars), Kerrigan quickly built momentum with a raw, authentic sound rooted in classic heavy metal tradition.

The band first made waves with a demo tape featuring original tracks “Intruders,” “Force And Will,” and “Heavy Metal 2020,” alongside a cover of “Rest In Peace” by Wolf (UK). The standout track Heavy Metal 2020 was later released on tape and vinyl via Fucking Kill Records, before being reissued by High Roller Records, further cementing Kerrigan’s reputation within the underground scene.

For their first full-length statement, Kerrigan signed with High Roller Records and delivered Bloodmoon, recorded with the help of session drummer Jonathan Döring, a long-time friend of the band. Upon its release in 2023, the album received strong praise across the metal press, highlighting Kerrigan’s songwriting, energy, and commitment to true metal values. Following the recording, Jonathan Döring and Jakob (bass) became permanent members, solidifying the band’s lineup.

Musically, Bloodmoon delivers driving riffs, soaring vocals, and powerful melodies that channel the spirit of 1980s heavy metal while sounding fresh and urgent. The album stands as a confident and accomplished debut, appealing to fans of traditional heavy metal, NWOTHM, and classic European metal.
