The Eternal Quest is the debut full-length album from US progressive heavy/power metal band Mystic Force, originally released in 1993 and long regarded as an overlooked gem of the early 90s underground metal scene. This deluxe slipcase CD reissue features newly restored and remastered audio by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony, bringing renewed clarity and power to a cult classic.

Mystic Force was formed in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1984, founded by guitarists Rich Davis and Marc Rouchard alongside bassist Keith Menser. After several early lineup changes, the band solidified with Chris Lembach on drums and Bobby Hicks on vocals, developing a distinctive sound that blended technical precision with melodic and progressive songwriting. Early demo tapes, including the self-titled demo in 1987 and Blind Vision in 1988, helped build momentum in the underground before a pair of vinyl releases in 1990 further expanded their reach.

Through growing support from the UK’s C.M.F.T. Records and Oliver Jung’s Demolition distribution network in Germany, Mystic Force gained a strong following in European underground metal circles. This momentum led to a deal with German label Rising Sun Productions, which released The Eternal Quest as the band’s official debut album.

Featuring standout tracks such as “Shipwrecked With The Wicked”, “Another World” and “Answers Of The Mystery”, The Eternal Quest delivers sophisticated progressive power metal that sits stylistically between Fates Warning and Hades. The album was recorded at Oz Recording Studio in Baltimore with engineer Drew Mazurek, who had previously worked with the band on earlier EPs, ensuring a confident and cohesive production that captured Mystic Force’s evolving sound.

Mystic Force would later release A Step Beyond in 1995 and Man Vs. Machine in 2001 before disbanding. Members went on to form Shift and later solo projects, further cementing the band’s legacy within the US progressive metal underground. This deluxe reissue of The Eternal Quest is an essential addition for collectors and fans of classic progressive and power metal, offering a definitive presentation of a highly respected yet often underappreciated release.
