Nocturnal Witch Summoning Hell CD (Slipcase, 2025, High Roller Records)

Nocturnal Witch’s debut album "Summoning Hell," originally released in 2014, is now available again on CD and vinyl through High Roller Records. This ferocious first full-length from the East German blackened thrash duo has become a highly sought-after underground classic, praised for its raw energy, punk-infused aggression, and insidiously catchy songwriting. Written in a bleak former office complex far from civilization, the album captures the harsh environment in which it was created. Vocalist/guitarist Tyrant and drummer Baphomet shaped the songs through instinct rather than planning, refining each track until it felt right. This same approach carried into their later work, including the 2019 follow-up "A Thousand Pyres."

"Summoning Hell" delivers a barrage of galloping riffs and venomous black-thrash attitude, with standout tracks like "Among the Ruins of the Dead" and "Black Death." Its influences are unmistakable, nodding to early Bathory, Venom, and the pioneers of the first-wave sound, yet it retains a distinct identity that has aged exceptionally well over the past decade.

This High Roller Records reissue comes as a limited slipcase edition of 500 copies. The album was recorded in five days at Black Magic Studios in Ilmenau in 2013, then mixed and mastered by Patrick W. Engel at HMSS Headquarters later that year. The release also includes the earlier track "Into Dungeons" from 2010, mixed and mastered by Steffen at Soundbridge.

With a third album currently in development, now is the perfect moment to rediscover or experience for the first time the raw beginnings of Nocturnal Witch’s blackened thrash assault.
