Soulfly Chama CD (Jewel Case, 2025, Nuclear Blast Records)

Soulfly Chama CD is the thirteenth studio album from the American heavy metal band led by Max Cavalera, released on October 24, 2025, through Nuclear Blast Records. Following Totem (2022), Chama delivers another intense chapter in Soulfly’s evolution, combining crushing groove metal, thrash metal aggression, tribal percussion and Brazilian musical influences with a raw, modern heavy metal sound.

The album showcases the unmistakable creative identity of Max Cavalera, whose work with Sepultura helped shape the development of extreme and groove-driven metal. Across Chama, punishing guitar riffs, forceful rhythms and tribal-inspired elements create a sound that balances Soulfly’s established heaviness with fresh energy and a strong connection to the band’s cultural and musical roots.

The album features Max Cavalera on vocals and guitar, Mike DeLeon on guitar, Igor Amadeus Cavalera on bass and Zyon Cavalera on drums. Guest appearances include Dino Cazares of Fear Factory on No Pain = No Power and Todd Jones of Nails on Ghenna, adding further weight to the album’s uncompromising approach.

Chama takes its title from the Portuguese word for “flame,” an appropriate name for an album built around intensity, rhythmic force and the enduring fire of Soulfly’s music. Produced by Arthur Rizk and Max Cavalera and recorded at Platinum Underground Studio in Mesa, Arizona, the album brings together groove metal, thrash influences, tribal rhythms and aggressive contemporary production.

For fans who have followed Soulfly from their self-titled 1998 debut through Primitive, Prophecy, Dark Ages and Totem, Chama continues the band’s distinctive musical journey. It also provides an entry point for listeners drawn to heavy, rhythm-driven metal, forceful riffs and the fusion of extreme metal with tribal and Brazilian influences.

This CD edition in Jewel Case format is an essential addition for Soulfly fans, Max Cavalera collectors and listeners exploring the heavier side of modern metal. Chama stands as a powerful continuation of Soulfly’s catalogue, rooted in the band’s unmistakable sound while maintaining its relentless intensity.
