Seventeen years after their last monumental shows of this kind, THERION made history again in 2024: The Swedish symphonic metal pioneers performed with a full orchestra once more. Following unforgettable performances in Romania (2006) and Hungary (2007), the legendary band returned to the orchestral stage for their very first spectacular arena show, thrilling 11,000 fans in the sold-out Mexico City Arena. This groundbreaking performance, titled Con Orquesta, will be immortalized as a precious chapter in the band's history and will be released on January 30, 2026, via Napalm Records in various physical formats, including several strictly limited editions.
 
After the two shows in Europe, THERION mastermind Christofer Johnsson was unsure whether he would ever again undertake a live project with an orchestra. Ultimately, however, his decision to do so has more than paid off. Together with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México, the band delivers an unparalleled symphonic metal spectacle, enriching classics with new arrangements and expanding their sonic universe with a magnificent orchestral style. "In our last projects, we pursued the 'THERION goes classic' approach: the band and the symphony orchestra met as equals. This resulted in fully orchestrated versions of our songs – a mix of roughly 50% THERION material and 50% classical excerpts, specially rearranged for the band and orchestra," Johnsson reflects. “This time, however, I took a different approach: I asked a renowned Mexican conductor and composer to interpret our song, adding new arrangements and expanding the existing ones with the orchestra. New intros and short interludes were also written. The result is a truly Mexican interpretation of THERION live with an orchestra.”
 
The setlist of Con Orquesta encompasses THERION's entire illustrious career; the 20 tracks unite fan favorites, symphonic epics, and rare gems. As bonus material, the album also includes exclusive rehearsal footage. From powerful classics like "The Blood of Kingu," "To Mega Therion," and "The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah" to emotional high points such as "The Birth of Venus Illegitima," "Siren of the Woods," and "Lemuria," the performance bridges the different eras of the band's history.
