Warning Watching From A Distance CD (Jewel Case, 2026, Relapse Records)

Watching From A Distance is the acclaimed second studio album from British doom metal band Warning, originally released in 2006 and reissued in 2026 to mark its 20th anniversary. Led by guitarist and vocalist Patrick Walker, the album delivers a deeply emotional form of traditional doom metal, built around slow, crushing guitar riffs, mournful melodies, weighty bass lines and powerful drumming. Across five extended tracks, Warning create a sombre and immersive atmosphere, with the title track, Footprints and Bridges showcasing the band's distinctive blend of heaviness, vulnerability and melodic depth.

The album's defining strength lies in its restrained arrangements and emotionally direct songwriting. Walker's expressive vocals convey themes of longing, loss and personal struggle, while the deliberate pacing allows each riff and melodic passage to develop with considerable weight. Faces and Echoes continue the album's introspective journey, combining expansive compositions with an intimate, melancholic atmosphere. Rather than relying on constant aggression, Warning build intensity through subtle shifts in dynamics, sustained guitar melodies and deeply personal vocal performances.

For fans of traditional doom metal, melancholic heavy metal and emotionally driven underground music, Watching From A Distance remains a landmark release. The CD reissue is an excellent addition for Warning collectors and listeners who appreciate slow, immersive songwriting, heavy guitar tones and a profoundly introspective atmosphere. Its enduring influence makes it essential listening for fans of the more melodic and emotionally expressive side of doom metal.
