Wings of Steel have quickly become one of the most talked-about new acts in traditional heavy metal and hard rock. With their breakout albums Gates of Twilight (2023) and Winds of Time (2025), the Los Angeles duo have made a major impact on the modern metal underground.

Formed by powerhouse vocalist Leo Unnermark and guitarist/bassist Parker Halub, Wings of Steel began taking shape in 2019 when the pair met while studying music in L.A. Sharing the same artistic vision and deep love for classic heavy metal, they spent years refining a sound that blends high-energy musicianship with expressive, melodic, and emotionally charged songwriting.

The band officially arrived with this their self-titled debut EP in 2022 - an independently produced release that captured their “expressive, epic, heavy, dynamic, heartfelt, electric, flashy, classic yet modern, bluesy, energetic and genuine” style. Though originally issued only as a private pressing, the EP quickly drew attention from fans of both NWOTHM and classic metal.

In 2024, Wings of Steel partnered with High Roller Records for the EP’s first official international release on CD and vinyl. The licensing arrangement allowed the band to maintain full ownership of their music while benefiting from one of Europe’s most respected heavy metal labels.

“We’re proud of these early studio recordings,” says vocalist Leo Unnermark. “We’ve grown a lot since then, but we pushed ourselves to make these songs the best they could possibly be at the time—and that’s what matters most to us.”
