Incantation The Forsaken Mourning Of Angelic Anguish CD (Jewel Case, 1997, Relapse Records)

The Forsaken Mourning Of Angelic Anguish is a 1997 EP from American death metal veterans Incantation, released through Relapse Records. Known for their dark, blasphemous approach to extreme metal, Incantation deliver a punishing blend of cavernous death metal, ominous atmosphere, crushing guitar riffs and relentless drumming. The release features seven original EP tracks, including Shadows From The Ancient Empire, Lusting Congregation Of Perpetual Damnation and the title track, showcasing the band's raw, oppressive sound and uncompromising songwriting.

The EP combines dense guitar tones, guttural vocals and powerful rhythmic shifts to create a bleak and sinister listening experience. Scream Bloody Gore, a cover of the classic Death track, pays tribute to one of the foundational releases of death metal while reflecting Incantation's own darker style. The 1997 CD edition also includes four bonus recordings: The Ibex Moon, Blasphemous Cremation, Essence Ablaze and Blissful Bloodshower. Together, the material offers a substantial snapshot of Incantation's brutal sound during the late 1990s.

For fans of old-school death metal, underground extreme metal and dark, atmospheric heaviness, The Forsaken Mourning Of Angelic Anguish is a compelling addition to any collection. The 1997 CD release is particularly appealing to listeners interested in Incantation's classic era, cavernous guitar work and the raw intensity of the American death metal underground.
