Deluxe remastered slipcase reissue of The Principle of Doubt the third full-length studio album from Germany's technical thrash metal pioneers Mekong Delta.

Released in 1989, The Principle of Doubt marked a major evolution for German technical thrash innovators Mekong Delta. Featuring new guitarist Uwe Baltrusch, the album pushed the band’s signature blend of precision, aggression, and avant-garde musicianship to new heights, closing out the decade with one of their most ambitious works.

With a sharper and more dynamic production than its predecessors, the album fully embraced the orchestral and classical elements that would soon become a Mekong Delta trademark. Between atmospheric, dramatic tracks like “Once I Believe” and “Curse of Reality,” the band continued their tradition of unexpected reinterpretations - this time adapting Marius Constant’s iconic Twilight Zone theme and transforming Julio Sagreras’ virtuosic “El Colibri” into an electric bass showcase. As mastermind Ralf Hubert explains: “I could play it on classical guitar… I just wanted to know if it was playable on bass.”

Lyrically, the band drew inspiration from Stephen R. Donaldson’s The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, exploring the themes of the tragic anti-hero through a condensed musical interpretation of the epic fantasy saga.

Anchored by the ferocious opener “A Question of Trust” and the driving intensity of “Shades of Doom,” The Principle of Doubt stands as one of Mekong Delta’s most compelling and adventurous albums.
