Mekong Delta’s sophomore album The Music of Erich Zann (1988) pushes their progressive thrash vision into deeper, darker territory. A full concept record inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s cult tale, the album channels the story’s tension, madness, and atmosphere through razor-sharp musicianship and avant-garde flair.

Founding member Ralf Hubert joined forces again with Peavy Wagner (Rage) to craft a tight, narrative-driven experience that sharpens the chaotic edges of their debut. Political firestorms like “Hatred” and “Confession of Madness” collide with cinematic pieces such as “Interludium” (Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho) and the classical-leaning “The Gnome”, showcasing Mekong Delta’s trademark fusion of metal, progressive complexity, and orchestral influence.
