Exhumed Death Revenge CD (Jewel Case, 2017, Relapse Records)

Death Revenge is the sixth full-length album from American death metal and goregrind band Exhumed, released in 2017 through Relapse Records. Marking the band's first concept album, this brutal release tells a macabre story inspired by real-life murders, grave robbing and the underground cadaver trade in 1820s Edinburgh, Scotland. Combining relentless guitar riffs, aggressive drumming, harsh vocals and a gruesome historical narrative, Exhumed deliver an intense and theatrical take on their signature gore metal sound.

Across its 12 tracks, Death Revenge balances fast, punishing death metal with shifts in pace, atmospheric instrumental passages and memorable melodic details. Tracks such as “Defenders of the Grave,” “Lifeless,” “Dead End,” “Night Work” and “The Anatomy Act of 1832” help bring the album's disturbing storyline to life. Recorded with producer Jarrett Pritchard, the album showcases the band's tight musicianship and ability to combine extreme metal aggression with carefully structured songwriting.

Death Revenge is an essential addition for fans of Exhumed, old-school death metal, grindcore and goregrind. Its combination of grisly subject matter, relentless riffing and concept-driven songwriting makes it a standout release for collectors of extreme metal CDs. Whether you're expanding a death metal collection or exploring Exhumed's later discography, this album delivers a fierce and memorable listening experience.
